About Us

Our Wedding Photo - Color

We are Greg & Kristie Godwin, and this is the story of our journey into adoption. When we got married in 2007, we were convinced God would lead us to adopt someday; we just didn’t expect it to happen so soon! In addition to our four adopted children, we have four biological children, and they have been great as we have walked this road together as a family.

Mikaela

Mikaela - Before Mikaela in 2016

Mikaela, born in August 2009, was our first adopted child. She was born in Ukraine with Down Syndrome andsmall heart defect. We traveled to Ukraine in May 2010 and returned home with her in July 2010. It’s hard to believe how far she’s come from the frail 11-month-old we brought home. She’s not frail anymore, but is a huge bright spot in our days.

Hallie - Before Hallie in 2016

In August 2013, we traveled to China to bring home both Isabelle & Hallie, two girls born in two different parts of China just 5 months apart, both with Down Syndrome and heart conditions, who had no idea that some day they would end up being sisters.

Jonathan

Jonathan joined our family in June 2016. Born in April 2012 in China, he was abandoned when he was only a few days old. He has microtia of his right ear and had an extra thumb on his right hand, though that was removed in China before we ever found out about him. He’s starting to learn his place in our family and that he belongs here with us, but this journey here with him has only just begun.

Evie

Evie was born in China in May 2010. In late 2014 she was adopted by an American family, but her special needs turned out to be far more severe than expected. So, in 2017 they made the difficult decision to dissolve her adoption, and she came home to us in December that year. We have since learned that she suffered a brain injury when she was very young, and thanks to her neurologist, her seizures are now under control.
